Monthly Expenses of a Ukrainian Blogger Living in Hurghada

According to УНІАН — Туризм: A Ukrainian content creator chose to escape the cold season by spending a month in Hurghada, Egypt, accompanied by her children. She rented an apartment within the El Karma resort complex, which she praised for its family-friendly amenities. According to her breakdown, her basic monthly costs totaled about $610.

The accommodation rent at El Karma is $450 per month. Utilities add another $60, while internet service costs $100. Overall, she aims to keep her essential expenses below $1,000 each month.

“For our first month, we stayed in an apartment inside the El Karma hotel grounds in Hurghada. The benefits include plenty of kids around, multiple swimming pools, children’s entertainment, and direct access to the beach-all free of charge. Cafes and restaurants on-site come with extra fees,” the Ukrainian blogger shared.

She also explained that she initially wanted a one-bedroom apartment but ended up choosing a studio due to unavailability. “I wanted a 1+1 apartment, but since there were no good options free, I opted for a studio. The rent was $450 plus $60 for utilities,” she said. Regarding internet, she added: “You need to arrange and pay for it yourself, which in my case was an additional $100.”

Food Costs for Families Living in Germany

Meanwhile, another Ukrainian woman, Lyudmyla Rusina, who relocated to Germany because of the war, shared insights into monthly food expenses for a household of two to three people. She indicated that a budget of 150–200 euros per month (approximately 7,800–10,400 UAH) is sufficient.

“For a family of two or three, 150 to 200 euros monthly is enough,” Lyudmyla confirmed.

These examples highlight how Ukrainians spending the winter abroad can both enjoy milder climates and carefully plan their budgets by comparing living costs in different countries. The growing trend of wintering in warmer destinations appears influenced by economic considerations and a desire to avoid harsh Ukrainian winters. Experiences shared by those already settled abroad offer valuable guidance for others contemplating a similar move.

As families navigate the complexities of living abroad, it's interesting to compare their experiences. For instance, while the Ukrainian blogger in Hurghada outlines her monthly expenses, another report highlights the stark differences in food provisions for Ukrainian refugees in Germany and Poland. Understanding these variations can provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by displaced families. Learn more about the differences in living costs and food provisions here.
