According to Главком: Three-time European wrestling champion Oksana Livach has shared her perspective on the updated qualification process for the 2028 Olympics. Under the new rules, the top three finishers at the 2027 World Championships will secure Olympic licenses, while the remaining berths will be awarded based on ranking points.
Oksana Livach: 'According to the new criteria, the top three participants of the 2027 World Championships will receive a license for the 2028 Olympics, and the remaining spots will go to the highest-ranked athletes. Ranking points will be earned both at the 2027 World Championships and at special tournaments in 2028.'
She also added that 'of course, it's better to resolve all license issues at the World Championships, because the ranking path is quite demanding. Overall, there are new rules and we must adapt to them.'
Oksana Livach's Achievements and Team Ukraine's Success
Oksana Livach was named the best athlete of April 2026 by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. The 2026 European Wrestling Championships took place in Tirana, Albania, where she claimed the European title in the 50 kg weight class. Team Ukraine finished at the top of the medal standings with 11 awards, including 6 gold medals-marking their best performance in 12 years. The last time Ukraine achieved 11 medals at a European Championships was 12 years ago, when they won only two golds.
