Massive Special Operation by Ukrainian Drones

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed a large-scale special operation in which Ukrainian drones attacked strategic Russian targets up to 1,000 kilometers from the front line. The strikes targeted Russian Navy arsenals in Kronstadt and an oil depot in the Krasnodar region. This operation was planned and coordinated by three Ukrainian agencies: the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR). These long-range capabilities mark a significant shift in Ukraine's ability to project force deep inside Russian territory.

The drones traveled roughly 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg area, where they struck enemy naval arsenals and military facilities in Kronstadt. In addition, long-range strikes reached the Krasnodar region, hitting an oil depot. On the night of June 5–6, a fire with prolonged detonations broke out in the Lomonosovsky District of Russia's Leningrad Region, centered on a closed military facility in the village of Bolshaya Izhora. Meanwhile, in Tyumen, a large fire erupted at the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, one of Russia's largest privately-owned refineries. Witnesses reported a series of explosions at the site.

“It is time to end this war. But the Russian leader wants to keep fighting. That is why Ukrainian sanctions for this aggression are in effect. Last night, our drones covered about 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg region-to the enemy's naval arsenals and the base in Kronstadt. And our long-range sanctions also traveled about 500 kilometers to the Krasnodar region, striking an oil depot.”

The president also emphasized the importance of joint efforts by Ukrainian forces: “These are important results from the joint work of AFU, SBU, and HUR soldiers. Russia must end its war and stop its attacks on life. Any acts of injustice against Ukraine will receive a just response. I thank our soldiers for their precision.”

What This Operation Means for Ukraine

This special operation highlights Ukraine's growing ability to conduct deep strikes against strategic enemy assets, potentially crippling Russian military capabilities. Such actions, combined with Ukraine's diplomatic efforts, could push the international community to step up support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.

The measures taken by Ukrainian security forces demonstrate their readiness to adapt and respond to the challenges of modern warfare.

This recent operation reflects a broader strategy by Ukraine to extend its military reach, as evidenced by a previous strike that reached over 500 kilometers into the Moscow region. For more insights on these developments and their implications, read about the recent strike in the Moscow region.
