Fourth International Summit of Cities and Regions

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: At the Fourth International Summit of Cities and Regions, Ukrainian communities and regional authorities formalized 22 agreements, memorandums, and cooperation protocols with partners from over 10 nations worldwide. Themed 'Partnership. Resilience. Readiness,' the summit focused on diverse collaboration areas such as community rebuilding, inter-municipal partnerships, support for frontline areas, education, local governance development, and international solidarity.

Support for De-Occupied Territories

A major emphasis of the event was on assisting de-occupied and frontline regions, as well as strengthening interregional cooperation under the 'Side by Side' initiative. Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister of Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba, stressed the critical role of direct communication between Ukrainian communities and their foreign counterparts.

'Year after year, we see that when Ukrainian communities and international partners engage directly, recovery happens much faster and more effectively. For the Ministry, it is fundamentally important to support these connections, as they provide the most transparent pathway for investments into specific cities and communities. Today’s agreements are ready-made solutions that will lead to concrete rebuilt facilities, restored services, and more resilient communities,' stated Oleksiy Kuleba.

Regional state administrations participated in the summit, including those from:

  • Kherson
  • Sumy
  • Chernivtsi
  • Odesa
  • Vinnytsia
  • Donetsk
  • Kharkiv
  • Lviv
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Kyiv

These agreements are expected to foster deeper collaboration between local communities and international partners, marking a significant step in Ukraine’s recovery and development.

The summit served as a vital platform for forging international ties that could underpin the future growth of Ukrainian communities. Cooperation pacts with foreign partners will not only aid in rebuilding infrastructure but also enhance the capacity of local authorities to implement projects in education, social services, and economic development. Given the current situation in Ukraine, such initiatives could play a key role in ensuring regional stability and growth.

In addition to these collaborative efforts, the Ukrainian government is also focusing on enhancing the return process for citizens living abroad. A new initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Policy aims to create a digital platform that simplifies the reintegration of Ukrainians returning home. This approach underscores the commitment to supporting all aspects of recovery and development, ensuring that both communities and individuals can thrive in a post-conflict environment.
