Ukrainian Archers Shine at European Grand Prix

According to Главком: Ukrainian archers claimed two silver medals at the opening stage of the European Grand Prix, held in Antalya. The women's team-comprising Veronika Marchenko, Anastasiia Pavlova, and Dzvenyslava Chernyk-secured silver in the Olympic recurve team event. In individual competition, Mykhailo Usach also brought home a silver medal.

The Ukrainian women's team delivered an impressive performance, finishing second in the qualification round. They defeated the Netherlands 6-2 in the first round and continued their strong run by overcoming Moldova in the quarterfinals. However, they fell short in the final, losing 0-6 to Italy. The Italian roster featured notable athletes, including Chiara Rebagliati, champion of the 2022 World Games, and Tatiana Andreoli, champion of the European Games.

Mykhailo Usach's Performance

Mykhailo Usach, a participant in the 2024 Olympics and the 2026 European indoor champion, also turned in a remarkable showing. He qualified in 30th place. In the round of 32, Usach defeated Berkım Tümer-a bronze medalist in the team event at the 2024 Olympics-by a score of 6-0, posting 29, 30, and 29 points across the sets. In the quarterfinals, he edged out Ivan Kozhokar in a tiebreak, scoring 10 against 9. Usach then topped 2020 Olympic champion and 2024 Games bronze medalist Mete Gazoz 5-3 in the semifinals. However, he lost the final 3-7 to Nicholas D'Amour, who represents the Virgin Islands but competes for the United States.

Last year, Ukrainian archers earned bronze medals at a European Grand Prix stage. This success highlights the high level of training and potential among Ukraine's archers on the international stage.

The achievements of Ukrainian archers at the European Grand Prix in Antalya underscore their growth and competitiveness internationally.

The women's team silver and Usach's individual medal reflect their dedication and readiness for future competitions, including the 2024 Olympics. These results could boost support for archery in Ukraine and attract new talent to the sport.

The recent achievements of Ukrainian athletes are not limited to archery alone. In a stunning display of skill, the Ukrainian women's team recently clinched gold at the World Race Walking Championships, further demonstrating the nation's rising prominence in international sports. As Ukrainian athletes continue to excel across various disciplines, their collective success highlights the strength and determination of the country's sports community.
