For the First Time, a Ukrainian Drone Maker Receives a Request to Protect a Vessel in the Strait of Hormuz
TAF Industries and Maritime Security
According to Главком: A Ukrainian company specializing in FPV drones, TAF Industries, has received a request from a shipowner to provide military consulting services aimed at ensuring the safety of a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the first time a private Ukrainian firm has been approached in the Middle East for military consulting related to maritime security.
We received an inquiry from a shipowner about securing his vessel's passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This is about providing a military consulting service, not about exporting drones.

To deliver this service, several Ukrainian specialists are expected to be on board the ship during its transit of the Strait of Hormuz. They may use their own equipment, including interceptor drones, to counter Iranian drones.
Before TAF Industries can provide this service, it must obtain an export permit from the State Export Control Service and the Interagency Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control Policy. Ukrainian experts already have experience destroying Iranian drones, having successfully carried out several operations in a Middle Eastern country.
Prospects and Challenges for Cooperation
Despite receiving requests from countries in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East to purchase Ukrainian interceptor drones, direct sales have been blocked at the state leadership level. Ukrainian drone manufacturers have received dozens of commercial offers and are ready to sell their products at a higher price than on the Ukrainian market. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported that more than ten countries have approached Ukraine for help in defending against drones, and Ukraine has already sent 201 Iranian drone experts to the Middle East.
This request to TAF Industries highlights the growing role of Ukrainian companies in the international security market, particularly in the face of modern threats from unmanned technologies. Success in providing such services could open new opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers in the field of military-technical cooperation and strengthen Ukraine's position on the global stage, especially in collaboration with countries facing threats from Iranian drones. It also underscores the importance of securing the necessary permits and meeting regulatory requirements to ensure the legitimacy and safety of such operations.
As TAF Industries embarks on this significant mission, the broader context of Ukraine's drone capabilities becomes increasingly relevant. With the potential to produce up to 10 million drones annually, Ukraine is positioned as a key player in the defense sector, particularly in the Middle East. This growth not only underscores the demand for advanced military technologies but also highlights the ongoing negotiations for defense contracts in the region.
