Air Quality Monitoring Sensor Deployed in Novoyavorivsk

According to Мін. Економіки: The first indicative air quality monitoring sensor has been activated in the city of Novoyavorivsk, Lviv Oblast, as part of the Ukrainian-Finnish UFAIR project. This initiative, funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, aims to improve air quality across Ukraine. Air pollution is a significant environmental concern in many industrial regions of the country.

Ihor Zubovych, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, participated in the commissioning ceremony for the new sensor. The broader UFAIR project plan includes:

  • the procurement of six indicative sensors;
  • the establishment of two EU-standard reference observation stations;
  • strengthening the institutional capacity of the project's partners.

This deployment marks a critical step toward enhanced regional air quality monitoring and is expected to help reduce environmental risks for local communities.

UFAIR Project Implementation in Ukraine

The installation of these air quality sensors in Ukraine, starting with Novoyavorivsk, represents a major phase in national efforts to improve environmental conditions. Data from such initiatives can inform more effective environmental protection policies and help safeguard public health. This international cooperation on a pressing ecological issue highlights the shared commitment to addressing air pollution and climate change challenges.

The execution of the UFAIR project underscores the value of international partnerships in tackling complex environmental problems, which is increasingly vital in the context of global climate change and air quality degradation.
