A powerful cyclone awaits Ukraine: temperatures will drop to -20°C and power outages will intensify
Anticipation of a powerful cyclone in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: A powerful cyclone is expected in Ukraine from January 8, leading to a sharp drop in temperature. At night, temperatures will drop to -20°C, and during the day to -10°C. Additionally, power outages are expected, caused by snow accumulation on power lines and difficulties in road traffic.
The cyclone will enter Ukraine through the Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions around four o'clock in the morning on January 8. In worsening weather conditions, the country's energy system, which is daily subjected to enemy attacks, will face additional loads.
“Energy workers operate under extremely difficult conditions to ensure people have light and heat” - Yulia Svyrydenko.
Preparation measures for cyclones
To prepare for potential hardships, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will ensure the readiness of snow removal and heavy engineering equipment. The Recovery Agency and regional administrations will prepare fuel reserves and treat roads with anti-icing mixtures. The relevant ministries must prepare to deploy points of invincibility, while the Ministry of Energy will ensure the stable operation of the energy system.
This cycle of weather conditions may significantly impact the daily lives of Ukrainians, as substantial cooling is expected along with potential power outages. Given the current military situation in the country, additional loads on the energy system may lead to even greater concern among the population.
Government measures aimed at preparing for cyclones highlight the importance of coordination between various departments to ensure the safety and comfort of citizens. This also reflects the necessity for readiness for extreme weather conditions, which may become part of the new normal in Ukraine.
