Light schedules may be in effect all winter: what awaits Ukrainians

According to hvylya.net: The head of NEC 'Ukrenergo' Vitaliy Zaychenko warns that Russian attacks on energy infrastructure could lead to prolonged power outages throughout the winter period. Nevertheless, thanks to ongoing restoration work at damaged facilities, a positive trend in electricity supply is possible.

Zaychenko did not rule out that restrictions could last throughout the entire winter season. He emphasized that the joint efforts of the Ukrainian energy sector and generation facility owners will allow for a reduction or avoidance of outages.

Experts advise Ukrainians to prepare for adaptation to new conditions in light of Russian attacks and restrictions on electricity supply. It is recommended to have a stock of necessary items, as well as to ensure sealing of windows and doors to retain heat.

Winter Forecast

Energy expert Viktor Kurtev believes that this winter we will encounter schedules of outages but will avoid a complete shutdown. The most challenging situation is expected on the left bank of Ukraine; however, the foundation of energy will remain nuclear generation with regulation through outage schedules.
