From October 20, Ukrzaliznytsia Cancels Two Trains and Adds Evacuation Stop Data to Its App
Ukrzaliznytsia Launches New App Features to Inform Passengers
According to УНІАН — Туризм: Ukrzaliznytsia has introduced an update to its mobile app that shows users the average number of evacuation stops and train delays recorded over the past 10 days. This addition is designed to provide passengers with more timely and relevant travel information amid ongoing challenges. Meanwhile, starting October 20, the company will suspend two train services due to worsening security conditions and a drop in passenger demand.
Train Suspensions and Alternative Travel Options
The canceled routes include trains No. 79/80 running between Dnipro and Lviv, and No. 31/32 connecting Zaporizhzhia and Przemyśl. These measures respond to a significant decline in ridership and aim to ensure traveler safety. Passengers planning trips along these routes are encouraged to consider the following alternatives:
- From Dnipro to Lviv, several other trains remain operational, including numbers 39/40, 5/6, 3/4, 85/86, 41/42, 61/62, 261/262, and 127/128.
- For journeys to Przemyśl, travelers can use connecting trains via Lviv or Kyiv.
The Ukrzaliznytsia press service emphasized that the new data on delays and evacuation stops serves as a reference and does not guarantee complete accuracy. "This information is intended to help forecast potential disruptions during travel but is not a promise or guarantee. We have significantly reduced delays in October, yet safety remains our top priority. We choose transparency and will regularly update this information so passengers can make informed decisions about routes and schedules," the statement said.
Through these efforts, Ukrzaliznytsia is adapting its service to meet current safety requirements while enhancing passenger awareness. The app’s new functionality helps travelers plan more cautiously, reflecting the serious difficulties facing Ukraine’s rail network amid an unstable security environment.
As security concerns escalate, Ukrzaliznytsia has decided to halt train services in the eastern region starting from the same date, reflecting the company's ongoing commitment to passenger safety. This decision aligns with the recent cancellations and highlights the broader impact of the current situation on train operations across the country.
