Ukrzaliznytsia’s Peak Travel Season

According to УНІАН — Туризм: Ukraine’s state railway operator has entered its busiest period of 2026, with ticket demand surging significantly. The company now receives roughly 340,000 ticket requests each day and transports 80,000 passengers daily. In the first week of summer alone, 472,873 people traveled by rail. The most popular route is Train No. 104 from Lviv to Lozova, which has carried over 13,000 passengers.

Over the three summer months, the operator aims to transport 7 million passengers. Due to high demand, the competition for tickets is intensifying, with the ratio of interested travelers per available seat rising from 4 to between 6 and 7. Tickets go on sale 20 days before departure, with summer schedule tickets becoming available on June 9. Starting June 29, Ukrzaliznytsia will switch to an updated summer timetable, promising greater convenience for passengers.

Transparency and New Features

To ensure openness when addressing questions about ticket availability, the company’s press office stated:

“To be as transparent as possible in answering the question ‘Where are the tickets?’, we continue our tradition of summer reporting. As we did last year, we will regularly publish weekly data on the transport of children’s groups and military personnel, top destinations, and actual capacity.”

Additionally, a convenient auto-purchase option is now available for passengers. Through the Ukrzaliznytsia app, users can select their desired train and date. When a seat becomes available for sale, the system automatically books it-a feature the company recommends for streamlining the ticket-buying process. This summer, Ukrzaliznytsia is actively working to improve service and meet passenger needs during the peak travel season.

The rising demand for tickets reflects a resurgence in passenger rail travel across Ukraine, likely driven by a recovery in domestic trips and increased tourism activity. In response to these trends, Ukrzaliznytsia is adapting its offerings to meet passenger expectations and ensure comfortable journeys. The introduction of innovations like auto-purchase tickets also highlights the company’s commitment to modernizing services and boosting customer service efficiency.

As the summer travel season heats up, several train services will transition to daily operations, enhancing travel options for passengers. This change is designed to accommodate the increasing demand for rail travel during peak months, ensuring that more people can enjoy seamless journeys across Ukraine.
