In which sector does Poland lack many workers and pays 12000 zlotys

In Poland, the construction sector remains one of the most deficient in terms of workforce, despite the gradual recovery of the market. Here, employers are willing to pay from 5800 to 12,000 gross zlotys, and in some cases even significantly more. This is reported by InPoland.

According to the annual 'Barometer of Professions' prepared for the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy of Poland, construction tops the list of industries with the greatest shortage of staff. The most challenging situation is in small businesses, which are suffering from both debts and a lack of labor.

The construction sector in Poland and the shortage of staff

Experts note that out of the 168 analyzed professions, 17 are in short supply, and most of them are related to construction. Employers are primarily looking for:

  • painters and plasterers
  • tilers and bricklayers
  • plumbers
  • welders
  • electricians and energy technicians
  • operators and mechanics of construction equipment.

As of the end of August 2025, the total debt of the construction sector exceeded 5.8 billion zlotys, and more than 50 thousand companies faced financial difficulties.

Salaries in the construction sector of Poland

According to the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS), the average monthly salary in construction in March was about 8264 gross zlotys. Meanwhile, the level of payment significantly depends on the qualifications and region:

  • manual workers – on average 6927 gross zlotys
  • engineers – about 8230 gross zlotys
  • narrow specialists – from 20,000 to 40,000 gross zlotys.

For example, roofers in the Pomeranian Voivodeship earn 5800-6000 gross zlotys, while in the Silesian region salaries can reach 9500 zlotys, provided that there is at least five years of experience. Employers emphasize that with gained experience, the salary can increase by another 3000-4000 gross zlotys.
