In Odesa, autumn vacations in schools are canceled due to the energy crisis
According to glavcom.ua: The Odesa City Council has decided to cancel autumn vacations in schools in 2025 due to potential problems with learning under conditions of insufficient lighting during the winter period. This was reported by the Director of the Department of Education, Olena Buynievych.
“We do not know what winter awaits us, although we have our suspicions. While there is light and the day is still long, we must take every opportunity to learn,” she wrote.
According to Buynievych, the last week of October will be used for reviewing material, making up educational losses, and consolidating what has been learned. Tests and homework for this week will be canceled. The possibility of extending winter vacations is also being considered.
Attacks on Ukraine's energy system
The Russian Federation has again attacked the Ukrainian energy system using drones and rockets. On the night of October 10 and October 14, massive assaults were carried out on the energy facilities of Ukraine. The situation in the energy system is controlled but complicated due to constant Russian shelling, which hampers recovery efforts. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine may be forced to import electricity due to enemy attacks.
The cancellation of vacations in Odesa due to potential problems with electricity shows how seriously the authorities regard education and the learning process. At the same time, the attacks on the Ukrainian energy system indicate the continuation of geopolitical tensions and the threat facing the country from Russia.
