Scientist Svitlana Krakovska predicts that summer in Ukraine could last up to 180 days a year by the middle of the century. An increase in air temperature is also expected, and even the possibility of a desert appearing in one of the regions.
“How the situation will develop - milder or more harsh - depends on how humans will conduct their economic activities, what sources of energy will be used, how much greenhouse gas will be emitted,” the scientist explained.
According to Krakovska's forecasts, by 2050, the average temperature in the southern regions of Ukraine may reach 28-30°C. This may lead to changes in the natural environment of the country, in particular, the formation of a desert in the Odesa region.
Global climate changes have already led to abnormal weather conditions and rising prices for food worldwide. Temperature fluctuations and excessive heat may become common occurrences in the future, impacting the economy and people's lives.
