Drone Strike on Donetsk: Massive Power Outage in the City and Region

According to glavcom.ua: On the night of November 17, drones attacked the temporarily occupied Donetsk, and power was cut off throughout the city after the strikes. It appears that the Chaykino substation with a capacity of 330 kW was affected, leading to a lack of electricity in many areas of the city, and even residents of Makiivka saw flames.

Telegram channels from the DPR also report that not only Donetsk but also Makiivka, Yasynuvata, Horlivka, and Yenakiieve are without power.

Attacks on Donetsk and Other Settlements

Previously, on September 8, drones and rockets also attacked Donetsk, Makiivka, and Yenakiieve, causing injuries to people. The former 'Topaz' factory in Donetsk, which was used by the occupiers in the industrial zone, was attacked with cruise missiles. Also, due to a series of explosions on October 11, a fire was recorded at the 'Sigma' hypermarket. Residents of the city saw drones, heard explosions, and witnessed the store catching fire.

According to former Mariupol mayor's advisor Petro Andriushchenko, this time the defense forces struck the occupiers' base area, this is the third attack in the last three years.

The new incident involving a drone attack on Donetsk underscores the unstable situation in the region and continues to heighten tensions between the parties to the conflict.
