Wheat prices have fallen: what influences the global market and Ukrainian export
According to hvylya.net: In Ukraine, export purchase prices for wheat delivered to Black Sea ports have increased for food wheat by 100-200 UAH/ton to 10700–10900 UAH/ton or 226–230 $/ton, while prices for feed wheat have decreased by 200-300 UAH/ton to 10000–10100 UAH/ton or 210–212 $/ton. Traders expect a shortage of quality food wheat due to a high level of fungal damage in some batches of wheat.
Global wheat quotes have slightly decreased over the week, although demand for cheap American wheat has strengthened. This is reported by the Electronic Grain Exchange of Ukraine.
Wheat exports for the 2025/26 marketing year amounted to 862 thousand tons compared to 1.517 million tons a year earlier, but in recent weeks the export pace has increased. Overall, since the beginning of the 2025/26 season, U.S. wheat exports have reached 3.91 million tons, which is 8.8% ahead of last year's pace.
Demand prices for August shipments of Russian wheat with 12.5% protein have fallen over the week, along with prices for other types of wheat. Delays in wheat harvest in Europe and an increase in the supply of new crop grain are putting pressure on global prices.
The information presented indicates that the wheat market is experiencing price fluctuations, a decrease in global quotes, and an increase in wheat exports from the USA. Traders predict a shortage of quality food wheat due to a high level of fungal damage, which may affect international prices for this crop.
