Strong heat in Ukraine: weather forecast for July 16

According to glavcom.ua: The weather forecast for today, July 16, in Ukraine predicts variable cloudiness and short-term rain in some regions. According to 'Ukrhydrometcenter', rain is expected in the west of the country and in the Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions, while thunderstorms and significant precipitation are possible in Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia. In other regions, precipitation is not anticipated.

The air temperature at night will range from 15 to 20 degrees, in the south and east of the country from 18 to 23 degrees, and during the day from 21 to 34 degrees. The heat will reach 35-37 degrees in the southeast. The wind will be mainly northwesterly, at a speed of 5-10 m/s.

Record heat and climate change

In June 2025, Western Europe recorded the highest average air temperature in history. This month became the hottest, with a record reading of +20.49 degrees, significantly exceeding previous records. Studies have shown that climate change has a significant impact on health, particularly, the number of deaths during heat in Europe tripled in early summer, which was described as a 'quietly destructive' heatwave.
