Wayne Rooney Names the Greatest Coach of All Time
Wayne Rooney's Thoughts on Managers
According to Главком: Former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has declared Alex Ferguson the greatest manager in history, while calling Pep Guardiola the best of his generation. Rooney highlighted Ferguson’s 26-year loyalty to Manchester United, during which he collected 49 trophies. Under Ferguson’s guidance, Rooney himself won five Premier League titles and a Champions League crown.
Rooney also stressed the importance of a manager’s commitment to a club.
“I’ve heard people talk about Guardiola’s loyalty over 10 years, and that’s amazing, but Ferguson was loyal to the club for 26 years. If you really think about that timeline, 26 years at one club is very impressive,” he said.
He further noted that Ferguson had to build a winning team from scratch, whereas Guardiola didn’t face the same need for a complete overhaul.
