Ukrainian Parliament Advances Seven Bills to Secure International Financial Aid
Parliamentary Approval of Key Legislative Measures
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed seven crucial bills in their initial readings, paving the way for receiving international financial assistance. Additionally, one bill has already been adopted and is being prepared for presidential signing. These laws address significant areas including:
- taxation and customs procedures for international parcels;
- bankruptcy regulations for small businesses;
- operations of the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC).
Among the legislative initiatives are also proposals aimed at aligning forestry management laws with European standards, as well as those concerning securitization and covered bonds. The final approval of these bills during the second reading is critical, as it directly impacts the disbursement of a portion of external aid.
“The receipt of a part of the international financial support, which is essential for balancing the state budget, paying salaries and pensions, funding social programs, and addressing other urgent national needs, depends on passing these bills in their second reading.”
Serhiy Koretskyi, Prime Minister of Ukraine
The Prime Minister also expressed optimism about the parliament's support in the upcoming vote and emphasized the importance of thorough committee work on these documents.
National Budget Discussions
