According to Главком: On the night of January 8 to 9, an explosion occurred in a hostel on Zhilyanska Street in Kyiv, resulting from a conflict between two men. One of them threw a grenade; however, fortunately, no one was injured. The offender, a 27-year-old man, was detained at the scene.

During the incident, a 42-year-old man managed to hide in a neighboring room, which may have saved his life. The offender was charged under Part 1 of Article 263 and Part 2 of Article 15 of Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the legislation, the sanctions for the most severe article provide for punishment of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
