The restored train Odessa - Chisinau is already running almost full

The international railway connection between Odessa and Chisinau has been restored for the first time since 2022. «Ukrzaliznytsia» has opened daily ticket sales, and the demand for the route has proven to be very high within the first few hours. This is reported by VisitUkraine.

The national carrier reported that the train's operation on this route is of great importance for both passengers and transportation links between Ukraine and Moldova. The restoration of the route has become a convenient alternative to car trips and transit across the border.

Train Odessa – Chisinau: demand and occupancy of flights

Ticket sales for the Odessa–Chisinau train are opened on a daily basis. In the first three hours after the start, almost 60% of seats were sold. Currently, the occupancy of flights is:

• 61% — from Odessa;

• 93% — from Kyiv.

Such figures indicate a consistently high interest in international railway services, particularly among passengers traveling to Moldova or using the route as part of further transit.

What the restoration of the route means

In «Ukrzaliznytsia», it is noted that the launch of the flight expands transportation opportunities for Ukrainians under conditions of limited air traffic. The train allows for more convenient trip planning and reduces the burden on vehicle checkpoints.

If the high demand continues, the carrier does not rule out the possibility of adjusting the number of seats or the schedule. The restoration of this route is viewed as an important step in the development of international railway services.

It is noteworthy that a mishap occurred on the railway track near Korosten - a freight train collided with a drone of the "Shahed" type. In connection with these events, some passenger trains have experienced changes in schedule.
