Postponement for students 30+: the bill has been canceled, the rules remain unchanged
Withdrawal of bill №13634-1
The bill №13634-1, which aimed to limit the right to deferment from mobilization for students over 30 years old, was officially withdrawn on September 2, 2025. This decision leaves the existing rules unchanged, meaning that students studying at foreign universities or those who have not completed their studies on time will be able to continue to benefit from deferment.
Planned restrictions
The planned restrictions would have meant that students who entered colleges after the age of 25 would be deprived of the right to deferment. According to Diana Ternova, the bill containing these potential restrictions was withdrawn, indicating that the existing education support system for students over 30 remains in force.
Thus, students who met the mentioned criteria can continue their studies without additional concerns about mobilization. It has been noted that this decision not only preserves the rights of existing students but also supports the overall level of education in Ukraine.
The withdrawal of the bill reflects the government's desire to preserve educational opportunities for students, which is an important aspect in the context of mobilization measures. Maintaining the deferment for students over 30 may encourage further education and skills enhancement, which in turn will positively affect the development of society as a whole. This decision can also be seen as a step towards supporting youth amid the difficult socio-economic situation in Ukraine.
