The dynamics of the Russian war against Ukraine are currently difficult to predict.

It may become prolonged, and overcoming the consequences of Russia's aggression may take a very long time. This was stated by Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs in a report on the results of the year in foreign policy and plans for the next year, reports Delfi.

At the same time, the Latvian minister emphasized that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine must be restored within internationally recognized borders.

'Only Ukraine has the right to decide when, where, and under what conditions Russian aggression can be considered halted. Latvia rejects any pressure on Ukraine regarding this issue,' said Rinkēvičs.

According to him, the priority tasks of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are to provide all possible assistance to Ukraine. As well as to maintain the sanctions policy against Russia, hold the RF accountable for aggression, and seek reparations.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded that Latvia has been providing extensive support to Ukraine since the first day of the war. To date, the amount of its assistance has already reached 0.93% of Latvia's GDP or over 314 million.

Ukraine must have the ability to attack Russian airfields and missile depots that are striking Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. At the same time, NATO allies should not fear escalation. This was stated by Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The Russian embassy in Riga reacted to the words of Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs regarding Ukraine's right to strike Russian airfields. In the diplomatic mission of the aggressor country, such statements were regarded as incitement to allow a large-scale war. This is stated in a statement on the website of the Russian embassy.
