Fans named the best player of the match against Iceland: who received the award

Fans of the Ukrainian national football team named the best player in the decisive confrontation of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Following the game against Iceland, which ended with the victory of the 'blue-yellow' team with a score of 2:0, Viktor Tsygankov received an honorary title of 'Lion of the Match' from the fans. The midfielder of the Spanish 'Girona' is now a holder of this status for the fourth time in his career: this time, 42% of all surveyed fans voted for Tsygankov.

Viktor was one of the most noticeable and dynamic elements on the football field. In the 87 minutes spent in the game, the attacking midfielder made twenty-four successful passes (out of twenty-nine), three of which were particularly sharp and sliced through the opponent's defense. Also, he created scoring opportunities on his own both in the first (hit the crossbar in the 24th minute) and in the second half (executed a dangerous cross to the Icelandic goalkeeper in the 66th minute). Viktor was replaced on the field in the final minutes by Yegor Nazaryna.
