The Military Medical Commission Process
According to ХВИЛЯ: Attorney Yuriy Aivazian has detailed the procedure for undergoing a Military Medical Commission (MMC) when a citizen lacks medical documentation for an existing illness. He emphasized that every individual has the right to an examination, and the MMC is obligated to refer them for diagnostic testing based on their complaints. This is particularly crucial for individuals with serious, undocumented health conditions.
These clarifications were prompted by the detention of a citizen by a notification group from a Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) and the police. The detained individual was taken for an MMC, where doctors were required to determine his actual fitness for service. However, as Aivazian noted,
"the absence of any medical records confirming an illness complicates the situation."
This obligates the MMC doctors to refer the citizen for additional examinations to verify or refute the claimed medical condition.
The Critical Need to Clearly State Symptoms
It is vitally important that during the examination by MMC specialists, the citizen clearly and confidently describes all symptoms. This forms the basis for the MMC to refer the individual for further testing at civilian or military medical facilities. MMC doctors are required to utilize analyses, X-rays, MRIs, and other diagnostic methods to establish a diagnosis, which is central to determining fitness for military duty.
