In Kyiv on August 24, transport will be restricted: details of routes and duration

On the upcoming Wednesday, August 24, when we celebrate Independence Day, there will be several restrictions on the streets of Kyiv due to security measures for foreign delegations. This information was reported by the State Guard Administration.

These restrictions will affect the central parts of the city and may impact the movement of transport and pedestrians.

Therefore, as city authorities note, residents and guests of the capital are asked to plan their routes in advance and prepare for possible delays during travel.

How this will affect public transport

Trolleybuses

Start of restrictions: from 6:00 AM until the end of the events (expected until 12:00 PM)

Changes in routes:

  • No. 6 — from the Minsk massif to the 'Lukyanivska' metro station
  • No. 16, 18 — from Myria Street and Soshchenka Street to the Povitroflotsky Bridge

Buses

Start of restrictions: from 7:00 AM until the end of the events (approximately until 11:00 AM)

Route No. 62 will be split into two parts:

  • First part: from the Botanical Garden to Bessarabskaya Square along its route, then – Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, turn onto Tereshchenkivska Street — Taras Shevchenko Boulevard — Velyka Vasylkivska Street — Bessarabsky Proezd — Baseina Street, and then back to the Botanical Garden along its route
  • Second part: from 'Kontraktova Ploshcha' metro station to European Square

Routes No. 110, 111 — from Myroslavska Street and Darnytsia Square to European Square

Route No. 114 will also be split into two parts:

  • from Myroslavska Street to European Square
  • from 'Central' railway station to 'Ploshcha Ukrayinskykh Heroiv' metro station

It is reported that trolleybuses No. 40 will operate from Kadetsky Hay Street to Solomyanska Square along its route, and then – Povitryanykh Syl Avenue – Ivan Ohiyenko Street – Hrihoriya Kirpy Street (in the reverse direction – Sicheslavska Street) – Sicheslavska Street – Metropolitan Vasyl Lypkivskyi Street – Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street – Zhylianska Street (in the reverse direction – Saksahansky Street) – Shota Rustaveli Street – then back to 'Palats Sportu' metro station (like trolleybuses No. 9K).

Changes will be in effect: from 10:00 PM on August 23 to 12:00 AM on August 24; from 10:00 PM on August 24 to 12:00 AM on August 25.

The Kyiv city authorities ask passengers to organize their trips considering these changes and apologize for the temporary inconveniences.

Security measures for the Independence Day celebration will lead to temporary transport restrictions in the center of Kyiv. In particular, trolleybuses and buses will operate on changed routes and schedules throughout the holiday. Organizers also urge residents and guests of the capital to be prepared for possible delays and recommend considering alternative routes in advance for comfortable movement in the city center.
