Glad to establish a commission for investigating war crimes committed by the Russian Federation against journalists
According to hvylya.net: In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a draft resolution has been registered to create a Temporary Investigation Commission (TIC), which will deal with the investigation of war crimes committed by armed formations of the Russian Federation against journalists and media workers.
The initiative belongs to the deputy head of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy, Yevheniya Kravchuk. The TIC is set to become a key parliamentary tool for monitoring, coordinating, and legislative initiatives in the field of protecting journalists and freedom of speech in times of war.
Main tasks of the TIC
- Investigation analysis: the commission plans to check the status of investigations into RF crimes against media workers, including intentional killings, torture, abductions, and destruction of property, especially in temporarily occupied territories.
- Coordination: the TIC will cooperate with various institutions and public organizations for effective monitoring of the situation. The commission also plans to facilitate international investigations and collaborate with international organizations.
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada plans to establish a Temporary Investigation Commission to investigate war crimes committed against media representatives by the Russian Federation. The initiative aims to ensure the protection of journalists and freedom of speech in the context of military conflict, primarily in occupied territories.
