Vyacheslav Surkis Sets New Mark

According to Главком: Vyacheslav Surkis, the goalkeeper for Dynamo Kyiv's U19 squad, has become the most capped player in the history of Ukraine's junior football championship. He reached this milestone during the 26th round of the junior league, when Dynamo faced Shakhtar Donetsk U19. In that match, which ended 4-1 in favor of the Kyiv side, Surkis made his 100th appearance in the junior competition-81 of those games were for Dynamo, while the other 19 came during his time with Zorya.

Achievements and Obstacles

Surkis is the first footballer to ever hit the 100-game mark. The previous record was held by Vorskla's Stanislav Prus, who played 86 matches in his career before the 2025/26 season. That benchmark was surpassed during the current campaign, with eight players now posting better numbers. Before the championship concludes, two others could also cross the 100-game threshold:

  • Oleksiy Plichko of Metalist 1925 (97 matches)
  • Viktor Tryhub of Kolos (96 matches)

Beyond his record, Surkis also made his senior debut for Dynamo's first team, coming on in the 81st minute of a 4-0 win over Epicenter. However, the UAF Control and Disciplinary Committee recently handed him a three-match suspension for using offensive and abusive language.

Despite this setback, Surkis remains one of the brightest talents in Ukrainian youth football, closely watched by fans and analysts alike. His historic run in the junior championship underscores both his skill and his potential to excel at the professional level. As young players across the country strive to reach new heights, Surkis proves that hard work and talent can set fresh records and keep Ukrainian football on the rise.
