Dynamo eliminated from the Champions League: for the first time in 20 years, Ukraine has no representatives in the group
According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian 'Dynamo' was eliminated from the Champions League qualification after losing to the Greek club 'Paphos' with a score of 0:2. This defeat was decisive after an already not very successful result in the first match (0:1).
Thus, the only participant from Ukraine finished its participation in the Champions League qualification without making it to the group stage. This is the first time since the 2005/06 season when no Ukrainian club managed to reach the group stage of this tournament.
In 2005, 'Dynamo' lost in the qualification to Swiss 'Tun', while 'Shakhtar' conceded to Milan's 'Inter'.
Although 'Dynamo' suffered a defeat, it will still continue its journey in European cups by advancing to the Europa League playoffs. The next opponent is the winner of the match between Israeli 'Maccabi' and Maltese 'Hamrun Spartans'.
In the return match of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, 'Paphos' defeated 'Dynamo' with a score of 2:0. The goals were scored in the 2nd and 55th minutes respectively.
