According to glavcom.ua: The Zhmerinka community from the Vinnytsia region reported that a street in the village of Pochapyntsi was named after Ukrainian footballer Ruslan Malinovskyi. This information was disseminated by activists of the 'Decolonization.Ukraine' movement.

Representatives of the movement appealed to the Zhmerinka community requesting the renaming of the street, which was named in honor of Malinovsky. According to the law on de-communization, the street name should have been changed.

Rodion Malinovsky was a marshal of the Soviet Union and a Soviet military figure. According to the response from the Zhmerinka community, Malinovsky Street was not named in honor of the Soviet figure but in honor of the Ukrainian national team footballer Ruslan Malinovskyi.

This response provoked outrage among users online, who began to joke that the footballer received a street in his honor even before his birth. Recall that in the match against Iceland, the Ukrainian national football team won with a score of 5:3.
