Ban on Driving: At What Age Will You Have to Give Up the Wheel
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada is considering a bill that proposes to strengthen control over elderly drivers. According to the initiative, drivers over the age of 65 will be required to undergo mandatory medical and psychological tests to obtain a driver's license. It is also proposed to increase the frequency of checks for motorists aged 70 and 75. This initiative is aimed at reducing road risks and enhancing the overall safety of road participants.
The expert community and public opinion are divided on the issue of the new rules. Proponents of the changes support the idea of reducing accidents, while opponents are concerned about potential age discrimination. In the context of European experience, where restrictions for elderly drivers have long been implemented, the discussion takes on special significance.
