His life was cut short on the day he registered to participate in the Ukrainian Championship for ski mountaineering, which confirms his passion for mountain sports and an active lifestyle.

Volodymyr was born on December 8, 1992, in Yaremche. He was a candidate for master of sports in sports tourism and a champion of Ukraine. Throughout his career, he climbed such famous peaks as:

• Kazbek
• Mont Blanc
• Matternhorn

Volodymyr's dream was to conquer Manaslu mountain, which reflects his ambition and determination in sports.

He served in the 241st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine, holding the rank of sergeant. Volodymyr chose the path of military service, leaving his sports achievements behind. In his commentary, he noted:

“Perhaps it is completely unreasonable or crazy to want to go to war… But what to do if your future fully depends on it?”

These words reflect his deep awareness of the importance of serving the country.

Unfortunately, on that day, together with Volodymyr, Vitaliy Rymaruk, a 26-year-old discus thrower serving as an officer of the 1st Combat Group of the 4th Special Operations Group of the National Guard of Ukraine, also died. Vitaliy had significant sports achievements as well, being a champion of Ukraine among youth and a prizewinner among adults. Both athletes became symbols of courage and patriotism for the young generation that chose to serve their country in difficult times.

The loss of Volodymyr Vasylyshyn was a great tragedy for the sports community of Ukraine, which lost a talented mountaineer and hero. His legacy will live on in the memory of those who knew him as an athlete and a warrior.
