According to glavcom.ua: Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Taras Lazarchuk.

Taras Lazarchuk was killed in September 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near Toretsk in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' citing the Kostopil City Council.

Biography of Taras Lazarchuk

Taras Lazarchuk was born in Stepana, Rivne region, where he finished school and entered the National University of Water Management and Nature Management in Rivne. His family later moved to Kostopil.

In 2008, the young man graduated with honors from the university with a degree in 'Hydropower Engineering'. He worked for some time at the enterprise 'Rivneoblenergo', and then went to the Netherlands, where he worked as an energy engineer.

Military service and heroic death

The day after the start of the full-scale invasion, Taras returned from abroad and immediately went to the military enlistment office. On March 1, 2022, he was enrolled in the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a soldier. He wanted to serve in the 'Azov' regiment, passed the standards and was assigned as the commander of the platoon of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade 'Azov'.

He fought in various directions. In the fall of 2023, he was wounded, and after treatment, he returned to service. On September 4, 2024, junior sergeant Taras Lazarchuk was killed while carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of Toretsk in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region.

Farewell and recognition

On September 10, 2024, a farewell ceremony for the fallen hero took place in Rivne and Kostopol. Taras Lazarchuk was buried at the 'Nove' cemetery in Kostopol next to other fallen servicemen.

Taras Lazarchuk was awarded the medals 'For the Defense of the Native State', 'For Unbreakable Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War', and 'War Veteran'. Posthumously, he was awarded a state award - the Order of 'Courage' of the 3rd class. The defender is survived by his mother, sister, two nephews, and girlfriend.

Commemoration

On the anniversary of Taras Lazarchuk's death, his mother received the posthumous state award for her son - the Order of 'Courage' of the 3rd class. The fighters of 'Azov' passed in a column from Kostopil to the new cemetery and held a solemn memorial ceremony near the grave of their fallen comrade, during which the deputy commander of the fire support company presented Valentina Lazarchuk with her son's award.

We remember those who died at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight with Russian occupiers and as a result of the hostile military attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
