Military personnel arrested for fuel embezzlement in Kyiv region: case details
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, have arrested and announced suspicion against a group of military personnel who rented and sold fuel from a military unit in the Kyiv region.
According to the SBI, while thousands of soldiers risk their lives at the front every day, some individuals are trying to profit from military property.
The military personnel created a criminal scheme under which various types of fuel were supplied to the black market. 'Documentary evidence confirms the sale of over 27 thousand liters of diesel fuel weighing a total of 22.9 tons,' - the SBI reported.
The embezzled fuel was stored in a special garage near the unit and then sold to civilians. Employees of the fuel and lubricants service fictitiously wrote off fuel from the warehouse under the guise of transportation and generator expenses.
'Other individuals sold these excesses 'on the side', changing license plates on civilian trucks and using forged documents,' - the law enforcement officers disclosed.
The suspects have been informed of the suspicion of appropriation of military property by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, which could lead to imprisonment for up to 15 years under Ukrainian law.
