SAP has completed the investigation into the embezzlement of 129 million on the water supply: who is suspected

According to САП: The conclusion of the investigation into the misappropriation of funds allocated for the reconstruction of the water supply became known today. Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office decided to complete the pre-trial investigation with the suspicion of several persons committing a crime.

A group of suspects received millions of hryvnias for the restoration of water management in the Dnipropetrovsk region, but instead of purchasing the necessary materials at market prices, they resold them at inflated prices. This fraudulent scheme caused losses of 129 million hryvnias to local enterprises.

"The organizer of the crime, together with his accomplices, tried to legalize the funds obtained by transferring them through the accounts of other companies," the investigation noted.

Among those detained is an entrepreneur who was in search outside Ukraine, who was wanted by the FBI. The case also highlights the heads of the enterprise, directors, and employees of firms involved in the reconstruction work.

"According to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court in a lawful manner."

The new investigation revealed that the criminal scheme not only caused enormous damage to the budget but also threatens the water investigation of the case. It is expected that the case will be heard in court, where questions of guilt and responsibility of the persons accused in this corruption scandal will be addressed.
