U.S. Official Confirms Expectation of Iran's World Cup Appearance

According to Главком: A senior U.S. administration official, Andrew Giuliani, has stated that the United States expects Iran's national team to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Iran's team is planning to arrive in the U.S. around June 10, 2026, where it will play all three of its Group G matches. This expectation comes despite the complex political relationship between the two nations.

While I cannot speak for the Iranian team, I can say that the President, when I spoke with him, invited the Iranian team here. The FIFA President also seemed to indicate in a statement yesterday that they are coming. So we are expecting them.

According to the tournament schedule, Iran's opponents in Group G will be Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-place finishers, will advance to the knockout round of 32.
