Ukraine’s U18 Hockey Team Competition

According to Главком: The Ukrainian U18 national hockey team now knows which opponents it will face in Division IA at the 2027 World Championship. Six nations will compete in the tournament: Ukraine, Germany, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Slovenia, and Austria. Germany, which had been playing in the elite division, has been relegated to Ukraine’s group, while Austria has moved up from Division IB.

Ukraine finished third in the 2026 World Championship Division IA standings. In their final match of that tournament, the Ukrainian team lost to Switzerland 5:6 in overtime. As a result, Ukraine will compete at this level for a second consecutive year. The final standings for the 2026 World Championship Division IA were as follows:

  • 1. Switzerland – 14 points
  • 2. Kazakhstan – 11
  • 3. Ukraine – 7
  • 4. Hungary – 6
  • 5. Slovenia – 4
  • 6. Poland – 3

Ukraine’s senior national hockey team is set to begin its 2026 World Championship Division IA campaign in Poland, running from May 2 to May 8. That division will feature six teams: Kazakhstan, France, Ukraine, Japan, Poland, and Lithuania.
