Ukraine – European Champions in Chess: Men Took Gold, Women Took Silver

Ukrainian chess players once again demonstrated their high class at international competitions. The men's team started the tournament not at the top, but thanks to excellent results and victories, they earned well-deserved gold. Our athletes Ruslan Ponomariov, Andrii Volokitin, Anton Korobov, Ihor Kovalenko, and Ihor Samunenko displayed confident play and reached first place during the final match against the team from England.

The men's team was only ninth in the initial ranking list... and secured gold.

The women's team, holding the uplifted flag of Ukraine, achieved silver medals at the European Championship. Ukrainian female players also showcased their skills and confidently declared themselves on the international stage.

Moreover, at the European Youth Olympic Festival, our youth demonstrated impressive results, winning many medals and showing that the future of Ukrainian chess holds much promise.
