Phone Talks Between the Ukrainian and French Presidents
According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation to discuss diplomatic avenues for ending the war, the current battlefield situation, and major threats. Zelenskyy informed Macron that Russia is making every effort to continue launching missile and drone strikes across Ukraine. The two leaders also addressed Ukraine’s need for additional air defense systems.
Zelenskyy thanked France for its support and stressed the importance of coordinating actions with partner nations. He stated:
“It is essential that every step we take in negotiations, in applying pressure on Russia, and in moving closer to peace is thoroughly prepared and synchronized with our key partners. Our position is that Europe must be part of the diplomatic process, and Europe’s voice must carry weight.”
Announcement of a Pressure Campaign Against Russia
Notably, on June 25, 2026, President Zelenskyy announced a 40-day campaign aimed at applying pressure on the aggressor state, Russia. In this context, Russian economist and publicist Vladislav Inozemtsev suggested in an interview that Ukraine should continue its campaign of strikes on Russian territory at least until Russia’s parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 18–20.
This discussion between the two leaders highlights the urgency and complexity of the situation in the region, as well as the need for joint efforts to achieve peace.
The call between Zelenskyy and Macron underscores the critical role of international coordination for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. Diplomatic efforts to secure additional support, including air defense, are vital for the country’s security. Both leaders emphasize the need for a clear and cohesive strategy in dealing with Russia, which could shape future developments in the region.
