Meeting between Ukraine and Norway

According to Главком: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, to discuss the energy situation in Ukraine and military support. Norway announced a $400 million allocation to Ukraine, half of which will be directed to the energy sector, and the other half to budget support.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to Norway and its people for the significant support, stating:

"We are grateful to Norway and the people of your country for such great support throughout this year."

He also highlighted the importance of the energy package, saying: 'Thank you for your energy package'. The Norwegian Foreign Minister informed Zelensky of an important decision regarding financial assistance, noting: '$400 million.'

Prospects for cooperation

During the meeting, the prospects for Norway's participation in the Purl initiative concerning the purchase of missiles for the air defense system were also discussed. In addition, opportunities for joint weapons production and other military cooperation projects between Ukraine and Norway were examined. It was noted that Norway provided Ukraine with military support amounting to seven billion dollars in 2023.

The Paris Declaration was mentioned as an important political signal regarding the provision of security guarantees to Ukraine. This meeting highlighted the continued cooperation between Ukraine and Norway in the fields of energy and security.
