This marks the first time in 24 years that a Ukrainian leader has set foot in Armenia. In a post on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy underscored the visit’s significance, framing it as a push to deepen cooperation with allies on critical issues tied to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Core Goals of the Talks

The discussions revolved around three main priorities:

• Bringing the war to a dignified conclusion.

  “We need joint efforts to step up diplomacy and prevent any reduction in pressure on the aggressor. Russia must end this war of its own making,” Zelenskyy stated.

• Accelerating the delivery of the European support package for Ukraine, valued at 90 billion euros.
• Strengthening Ukraine’s air defense systems and securing energy assistance, particularly in preparation for the upcoming heating season.

A separate track of the negotiations focused on sanctions targeting Russia’s shadow fleet. Zelenskyy raised this issue with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a bilateral meeting in Yerevan. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also arrived in the Armenian capital. Notably, this is the first time Armenia is hosting the European Political Community summit-a milestone that highlights the event’s growing importance for the region.
