The crash occurred on Tuesday morning while she was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord. The driver, a 19-year-old man, veered off the road in Frederick County, and the vehicle subsequently struck a ditch. Preliminary reports suggest that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor.

Two other individuals were in the car alongside Kaylee. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while another passenger declined medical treatment at the scene. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Kaylee was a high school senior at the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. In 2021, she landed the role of Jia in 'Godzilla vs. Kong' and reprised that character in 'Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire,' set for release in 2024. She was also nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Young Actress and appeared in the reboot of 'Magnum P.I.' as June.
