Ukrainian Forces Strike Kapustin Yar: Key Targets Hit in Russia's Astrakhan Region
Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian and Occupied Territory Sites
According to Главком: Ukrainian military and security forces have conducted strikes on targets within the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, including the Kapustin Yar testing range. This military facility, located in Russia's Astrakhan region and operated by its Defense Ministry, sustained damage to a technical building used for servicing medium-range ballistic missiles, an assembly building, and a logistics support warehouse. These long-range strikes demonstrate Ukraine's growing capability to disrupt Russian military operations far behind the front lines.
The Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces confirmed the strike on the Kapustin Yar range, citing information from the General Staff. In related actions, on the night of February 8, Ukrainian Defense Forces hit an enemy logistics supply depot in the temporarily occupied area of Rozivka, Zaporizhzhia region. Additionally, a concentration of enemy personnel was struck near the settlement of Krasnohirske in Zaporizhzhia region. On temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk region, near the town of Novoekonomichne, an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control point was destroyed.
Continued Ukrainian Offensive Actions
On February 5, the General Staff reported damage to infrastructure at the Kapustin Yar range. Throughout January 2026, Ukrainian Defense Forces executed a series of strikes on a complex of hangar-type buildings at this testing site. The attacks were carried out using long-range strike systems of Ukrainian manufacture, including the FP-5 Flamingo. On the night of February 7, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) also struck the Redkyn Research Chemical Plant in Russia's Tver region, a facility that produces fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles.
These strikes underscore the continuation of active Ukrainian operations on enemy territory, highlighting a strategic focus on degrading the infrastructure that sustains Russia's military capabilities. Targeting strategic assets like the Kapustin Yar range aims to reduce the enemy's operational capacity and may also impact the morale of Russian forces by demonstrating vulnerabilities in their rear areas. Consequently, these events represent a significant phase in the ongoing conflict, potentially altering its dynamics.
