Train Surfing Among Adolescents in Kyiv Region
According to Главком: Since the start of 2026, authorities in the Kyiv region have recorded 12 cases of train surfing involving teenagers, sparking public concern. Tragically, one of these incidents proved fatal: a 13-year-old boy died in the Bila Tserkva area. Three teens climbed onto the roof of a tank car at a railway station, and one was electrocuted. Despite medical efforts, the child's life could not be saved.
Another incident occurred on March 13 at the Kyiv-Volynskyi station, where a 12-year-old boy climbed onto an electric train car and suffered fatal injuries. He was electrocuted during the incident, and his body caught fire. Sadly, the young teen died in the hospital from his injuries.
Additionally, police from the capital's metro system found two 16-year-old boys riding between subway cars between the Hydropark and Dnipro stations. This shows that train-surfing incidents are not limited to railways but also happen in other settings.
In response to these events, seven parents have been held administratively liable under Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. This situation demands serious attention from parents, educators, and society at large, as children's safety must be the top priority.
