The government will increase funding for science by billions: what the funds will be used for
First Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolichev actively supports the initiative 'World Science Day 2025: Ukraine,' which was held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on the occasion of World Science Day for Peace and Development. According to Yermolichev, investing in the field of education and science is the key to resilience and further economic development of Ukraine. The draft state budget for the next year includes an impressive increase in expenditures on science of over 20 billion hryvnias, which is an important step towards a modern and competitive state.
As part of this investment, significant growth in funding for scientific and scientific-technical activities of 5.6 billion hryvnias is planned for 2026. Among the main areas of funding are the creation of research centers, support for scientific projects of young scientists, and scientific developments aimed at effective cooperation between science and business. This increase in financial support will contribute to the development of innovations, commercialization of scientific research, and fruitful cooperation between the scientific sector, the state, and the economy.
