Danylo Antonovych: how an actor from Bilopillia became a star of Eisenstein

According to Велика українська енциклопедія: Today marks the 136th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian actor, educator, and People's Artist of the USSR - Danylo Sydorovych Antonovych. He was born on December 22, 1889, in the city of Bilopillia (Sumy Oblast, Ukraine) and died on November 8, 1975, in Kharkiv.

Danylo Antonovych graduated from the Kyiv State Music and Drama Institute named after M. V. Lysenko in 1919. In his career, he worked as an actor in the theaters of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic, taught in theatrical schools, and actively contributed to the development of the arts.

“Art is my true love and calling. I have always tried to convey my feelings through every performance on stage or screen,” said Danylo Antonovych.
