23 Shopping Malls in Kyiv to Offer Jobs to Entrepreneurs Affected by the May 24 Strike
Support for Kyiv Entrepreneurs Hit by the Attack
According to Главком: Following the strike on May 24, which damaged commercial facilities near Lukyanivska metro station-including the Kvadrat shopping mall-the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City State Administration has signed an agreement with the management of 23 shopping and entertainment centers across the capital. These malls will provide workspaces for business owners who suffered losses. Additionally, the municipal Zhytniy Market has stepped in to accommodate vendors displaced from the Lukyanivskyi Market.
The initiative includes discussions on preferential rental terms and the duration of such support, with conditions to be negotiated individually with each entrepreneur. For further details, the Department's Trade and Consumer Services Division can be reached at (044) 246-66-36.
The Attack and Its Aftermath
The assault on Kyiv occurred overnight on May 24. During the shelling, the metro station entrance, a McDonald's restaurant, a local market, and a major shopping center were hit. Volodymyr Kostikov, a department representative, commented:
“We are grateful to every mall manager and the team at Zhytniy Market who responded to the situation and are offering concrete solutions so that Kyiv entrepreneurs can return to work as quickly as possible.”
The department and mall administrations are focused on sustaining local businesses amid the challenging circumstances caused by the attack. Leadership continues working to ensure proper conditions for those whose operations have been disrupted.
This effort aims not only to revive entrepreneurial activity but also to maintain social stability in a region impacted by military hostilities. Supporting businesses during such difficult times is a crucial step toward preserving jobs and economic momentum in the city. Ensuring that entrepreneurs receive swift and effective assistance is key to their recovery and continued operations.
In addition to the support provided by shopping malls, there are also funding opportunities available for local businesses. The Ministry of Economic Development has introduced a new program offering grants of up to UAH 16 million aimed at helping businesses recover from the recent challenges.
