Hero Ilya Akhmetgareyev: how he saved people under shelling in Bakhmut

On November 28, we mark the 30th anniversary of the birth of the Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) Ilya Shamilovich Akhmetgareyev – a firefighter-rescuer, junior sergeant of the civil protection service (2023, posthumously), participant of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Hero of Ukraine (2023, posthumously).

In 2022, Ilya Akhmetgareyev worked in the city of Bakhmut, which was being stormed by the occupiers from three directions. During another missile strike on the city in July 2022, the building of the state repair and emergency workshop of the regional branch of JSC 'Ukrzaliznytsia' collapsed. According to preliminary information, there were people under the rubble.

Ilya Shamilovich Akhmetgareyev became a Hero of Ukraine for his immense courage and heroism in the most difficult moments during the defense of the city from the occupiers. His deeds will always be remembered and honored by Ukrainians.
