Fines for driving without a license have skyrocketed: new amounts and risks
New fines for traffic violations in Ukraine
In our country, they have unexpectedly started to take a stricter approach to traffic violations. This is especially critical for drivers who believe that they can easily get away with driving without a license. But in reality, it's far from that.
- If you forgot your license at home, you face a fine of 425 hryvnias;
- If you got behind the wheel of a car without the correct category, be prepared for a fine of 3,400 hryvnias;
- If you have been disqualified and still decide to drive, the fine will reach 20,400 hryvnias;
- And in case of a repeat violation, you can expect a fine of up to 40,800 hryvnias and a license suspension for 7 years.
The police are now openly checking drivers, especially at night. The database indicates who is banned from driving a vehicle—thus, attempts by bribers do not help.
Let us remind you that even a short 'five-minute' trip can turn out to be very expensive and bring a lot of troubles in court.
What you should know:
- Electronic licenses in the 'Diya' app have the same legal force as regular plastic driver's licenses;
- You can appeal the fine within 10 days, and if you pay it within the first 15 days, you won’t incur an additional increase in the amount;
- Do not trust the wheel to someone who does not have a license—the responsibility will be shared between both of you.
This strict law regarding traffic violations is actually fair, as road safety must be prioritized, even if you believe that these 'five minutes' don't cost much.
The rules regarding traffic violations in Ukraine have become significantly stricter, fines have increased, and now for violations, you can not only lose money but also lose your driver's license for an extended period. The new rules are designed to ensure safety on the roads and instill responsibility in drivers for order on the streets.
