In Kyiv, private carriers have started to raise fares even before the official introduction of new tariffs in public transport. On certain routes, the price has already increased to 25-30 UAH for a trip. Carriers explain this increase by the rising costs of spare parts and consumables, while passengers report new tariffs in various districts of the capital. This is reported by Informator.

The first reports of fare increases came from residents of the Solomianskyi district. Notices have been posted in the minibus cabins stating that starting from July 15, the cost of one trip will increase from 20 to 25 UAH.

In a message to passengers, the carrier explains its decision by the rising cost of spare parts and consumables necessary for servicing buses.

At the same time, according to information from capital residents, some routes are raising fares immediately to 30 UAH. In particular, such a decision was reported by passengers of minibus No. 575, which connects the center of Kyiv with Vynohradar.

Minibus fare increases in Kyiv: why carriers are reviewing tariffs

The increase in minibus fares coincided with the city authorities' decision to raise the fare in public transport to 30 UAH starting July 15. As a result, private carriers have also started to review their pricing.

Previously, transport expert and co-founder of the NGO Passengers of Kyiv, Oleksandr Hrechko, warned that a sharp increase in public transport fares could affect the transport market of the capital. According to him, some financially capable passengers might prefer private minibuses if the price difference becomes insignificant.

Officially, the new fares for public transport in Kyiv take effect from July 15. The corresponding order was signed by the city mayor Vitali Klitschko. At the same time, the capital does not rule out that after the tariff review, some private carriers may continue to raise prices.

It is worth noting that in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, emergency rescue operations have been completed at the site of the strike on a 16-storey residential building. As a result of the Russian attack on July 2, 31 people died and 102 were injured.
